International military exercise “Mir 17/2“

In some six months Croatia will mark the 15th anniversary of the first deployment of the Croatian forces to Afghanistan. Croatian contingents and individuals from various services, branches and units have taken part in ISAF and in Resolute Support respectively. The contingents varied in size and composition over time, incorporating members of foreign armed forces. The constant aspect throughout the period has been the pre-deployment training organisation, evident in the final integration training and exercise events.
Presently, the 7th HRVCON to Resolute Support is in preparation. The mission was launched  in January 2015. Since early 2013 to late 2014 as many as 24 Croatian contingents took part in ISAF, the 24th HRVCON serving  also the as first HRVCON to Resolute Support.  The lenghty preparations for the Resolute Support Mission were comprimed into a week-long integration training and 5-day international field exercise “Mir 17/2“ (from 10 – 14 July 2017). At the Training Range “Eugen Kvaternik“ near Slunj the “Hrvatski vojnik“ magazine team was welcomed by the Evaluation Director, Colonel Davor Fanton of the Training and Doctrine Command. His team had a responsible task to evaluate all components and individual members of the Contingent in field conditions and demonstrate full readiness for the difficult mission in the hazardous remote area .
"The candidates for the 7th HRVCON demonstrate readiness and ability to efficiently perform the tasks in mission and demonstrate all assignments and activities implied in the deployment in Afghanistan“, says Colonel Fanton. NATO CREVAL has been employed in the exercise "Mir" as Evaluator Team's tools and methodology; the evaluation lists were composed in compliance with capability matrices and job descriptions of the Contingent members; adapted to the composition of the Contingent as task force formation. It is    a specific Croatian national evaluation standard interoperable with NATO and CREVAL standards.
