“Wings of Storm“ fly at air show in France
Over the past 14 seasons the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence’s aerobatic team “Wings of Storm“ performed 44 times in 14 foreign countries. From 29 June to 3 July the Group performed in France, at the largest 2017 air show of the French Air Force, which was held in the 113rd Air Base at Saint Dizier. The performance of the “Wings of Storm“, scheduled on the second day of the Show, was quite an attraction; the Croatian pilots received congratulations from the Chief of Staff of the French Air Force, General André Lanata and the Croatian Defence Attaché to France, Colonel Ivo Martinić.The performance at the Air Show in Saint Dizier was the first performance of the Group with Captain Darko Belančić as Team Leader and the first one in reduced composition (1st Lt. Grgić missing the performance) and 5-aircraft formation. The pilots of the “Wings of Storm“ with Cpt Darko Belančić as Team Leader, Cpt Miroslav Penica as navigator and Lt. Col. Damir Barišić as pilot of the reserve aircraft, arrived to Saint-Dizier on 29 June, after a brief stopover and refuelling in the “Landsberg” base in Germany. They had a rehearsal on 30 June to prepare for two main sequences.
Following a traditionally superb performance the pilots of the Wings of Storm received congratulations from the Chief of Staff of the French Air Force, General André Lanata and the Croatian Defence Attache to France, Colonel Ivo Martinić. The Air Show was well organised and attended by ca 40,000 visitors. The “Wings of Storm“ are to perform at the SIAF Air Show in Sliač, Slovakia in late August, which will be the last international performance in 2017.
