The selection flights of the 29^th generation of candidates for Croatian military pilots concluded in the 93^rd Wing of the 93^rd Wing of the Croatian Air Force in the Barracks “Pukovnik Mirko Vukušić” at Zemunik on 17 August 2020, and was performed on ZLIN-242L aircraft. Each participant performed ca 10 hours of flight, and the crown of the selection was a test flight which assesses the ability of the candidate for a military pilot and the adoption of the flight component of the selection flight. The 29^th generation comprised three different groups – secondary school graduates, third grade students and members of Croatian Armed Forces interested in taking pilot training and meeting the respective criteria.  An individual approach was administered, and the third grade (secondary school) students performed surprisingly well, on their first ever opportunity to take the selection training.

The Ministry of Defence offers scholarships throughout the remaining education as military pilots.  Captain Ivica Majetić, chief selection officer, appreciated all participants, flight instructors and aviation technicians for their exceptional efforts and safe implementation of the selection. “Everything went according to flight plans and set standards, and we successfully completed another selection cycle. Among the participants, the ‘third-graders’ stood out, who were very motivated, which was felt in their results, and considering that they were involved in the selection process for the first time at this age, they are a pleasant surprise for all of us”, said Captain Majetić. The final assessment of the future training of each selection participant will be made by an expert board, which will value all prescribed standards for the training of military pilots. The successful candidates will continue their studies at the Faculty of Transport Sciences of the University of Zagreb (Military Pilots), and after passing all required exams, they will be assigned to the 93^rd Wing at Zemunik again, to take the basic flight training on the aircraft ZLIN-242L aircraft.
