Cadet Club – a multifunctional ambitious project for the cadets
Late December 2016 in the Croatian Defence Academy “Dr Franjo Tuđman” saw the opening of the Cadet Club, titled “Four Pillars”.
The Club is situated in an converted and refurbished military workshop within the Barracks, offering a space for the cadets to socialise, relax, work and also present their extracurricular activities and achievements. The project was managed by Sergeant Anto Tomić, the Chairman of the Cadet Corps and supervised by Colonel Tihomir Tandarić, the Head of the Logistic Department of the Croatian Defence Academy as mentor. They were assisted by the repairmen of the Support Command (the Maintenance Depot, the Support Battalion, the General Logistical Support Battalion) of the Croatian Armed Forces and enjoyed the understanding and the support from the Croatian Defence Academy Command and the Commander, Lt. Gen. Slavko Barić. The Club is the result of the initiative, the will and the persistence of the cadets and the Cadet Battalion Commander, Lt. Col. Tomislav Kasumović .
The works kicked off in spring 2016 till December. One of the first activities to be hosted by the Club will be the visit by the representatives of all faculties of the University of Zagreb and various project presentations. The Club will further grow, and each new generation will have the opportunity to add on and contribute its own layer.
Colonel Tihomir Tandarić said the Cadet Club, presently occupying only a third of the available space, will prospectively accomodate the sport groups, a cadet bulletin editorial board, a multimedia space, creative workshops and will enable the initiating of other useful and necessary projects. Last but not least, the Club offers the space and the solutions for the cadets’ free time socialising and joint activities with the students of other components of the University, hosting foreign colleagues and the like.
