UAVs Aerial imagery – faster response

Through a presentation of the use of the Orbiter UAV in the Šibenik hinterland the Croatian Armed Forces on 3 June 2020 displayed a high level of readiness for the forthcoming firefighting season

The presentation displayed the role of the UAV System in firefighting season. The UAV is employed for monitoring of areas affected by fires, for early detection of fires, for surveillance of the fire sites and the assessment of the damage inflicted in fire-caught areas.

Through a presentation of the use of the Orbiter UAV in the Šibenik hinterland the Croatian Armed Forces on 3 June 2020 displayed a high level of readiness for the forthcoming firefighting season.

 “We have demonstrated the use of a UAV during a routine aerial reconnaissance flight. The Croatian Armed Forces have again demonstrated their readiness for the upcoming Firefighting season, and the importance of the aerial intelligence collection capability within the homeland security system has been confirmed”, said the UAV Flight Crew Commander of the Intelligence Regiment, who stated that the UAV capability was employed for civilian purposes too.

“This is a method of Imagery Intelligence (IMINT), which ensures better and faster response to a particular security threat”, said the member of the Intelligence Regiment.

The presentation showed the role of the UAV in firefighting season. The UAV is employed for   controlling the areas caught in fire, for early detection of fires, for surveillance of the fire sites and the assessment of the damage inflicted in fire-caught areas.

Homeland Security System

The Orbiter 3B is a new asset of the Croatian Armed Forces within the Homeland Security System intended for the shared use by the Ministry of Defence and of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Croatia.

 “We were engaged in 44 flights during the 2019 Firefighting Season. The large fire that broke out near Šibenik was under our control, we provided real-time imagery in the Firefighting Operations Command at Divulje with which we coordinated recommendations on the need for evacuation of the residents of the adjacent homes”.

The real-time image transfer was observed by the Chief of the General Staff Admiral Robert Hranj in Zagreb.

“By employing the Orbiter UAV system we hav established a real-time structure of delivery of intelligence data to users, to speed up the analysis of the data collected and the response to the situation”.
