Ammo Depot at Trbounje ”Skupnik Marko Odžak“

The Ammunition Depot at Trbounje (near Drniš) was named after Corporal Marko Odžak, an EOD specialist and Croatian defender killed in an accident in 2013 at a ceremony held at the Depot on 1 September 2020

”It is my duty as defence minister and a duty of the Government to ensure future development and strengthening of the Croatian Armed Forces, to deter any armament at their expense. I am convinced that during the present Government will continue the policy of the previous one and will realise all previewed equipment and modernisation plans”, said Minister Banožić, who also announced naming of more training ranges and other facilities after the meriting and brave Croatian defenders.

The Ammunition Depot at Trbounje (near Drniš) was named after Corporal Marko Odžak, an EOD specialist and Croatian defender killed in an accident in 2013 at a ceremony held at the Depot on 1 September 2020, which was attended by the Croatian Defence Minister Mario Banožić, by the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces Admiral Robert Hranj, by the Special Advisor to the Defence Minister Ivica Ušljebrka and by the Commander of the Support Command of the Croatian Armed Forces Lieutenant General Mladen Fuzul, alongside the family members of late Corporal.

Minister Banožić recalled Corporal Odžak’s war history – he was a Croatian defender since 1991, first as a police officer and as a member of the Croatian Army – and expressed gratitude to him and to his family for their contribution to the defence of Croatia, stating that he was a model for the present-day and for future generations of Croatian soldiers. The Minister also announced continued naming of training ranges and other infrastructure after the meriting and brave Croatian defenders.

Admiral Robert Hranj stressed the “Skupnik Marko Odžak” Ammunition Depot at Trbounje was considered for future use, and that the storage of explosive devices and ordnance was a highly complex and responsible duties, and necessitated expert and motivated personnel and EOD specialists.  ”By naming the Ammunition Depot after late Corporal Marko Odžak, a professional, experienced and trained EOD specialist, who lost his life at duty at the depot at Pađene we wish to pay our respects to him and his colleagues – EOD specialists – who lost their lives during the demining of the territory of Croatia”.

The family of Cpl Marko Odžak unveiled the memorial plaque at the entrance to the Depot. The Defence Minister and the Chief of the General Staff toured the facilities within the Depot.
