Croatian soldiers improve a school in Nin
The Croatian Armed Forces proved continuous readiness to assist the citizens. As the Croatian Armed Forces Day was marked under anti-epidemic restrictions, the emphasis was placed on humanitarian projects in the local community.
Members of the 93rd Wing of the Croatian Air Force based in the barracks ”Pukovnik Mirko Vukušić“ at Zemunik upgraded the courtyard and the façade of the Elementary School ”Petar Zoranić“ in Nin from 19-26 May 2020.
Ten members of the 93rd Wing planted olive trees and did other gardening works, and renovated the façade, the benches and the school signboard, with support from the Zadar County and the Engineer Battalion of the Guards Mechanised Brigade of the Croatian Army.
Following the completion of the works a presentation ceremony was held, attended by the Commander of the 93rd Wing Colonel Željko Ninić, by the Principal of the ”Petar Zoranić“ Elementary School in Nin Kata Knežević, by the Prefect of the Zadar County Božidar Longin, by the Envoy of the Mayor of Nin Jozo Mustač and by the School staff.
Assisting the community
“We are honoured to have contributed even in a small part as a unit of the Croatian Armed Forces to the community where we live and work”, said Col. Željko Ninić, and commended the efforts and commitment by the members of the 93rd Wing.
“I am glad that this campaign too proved the excellent co-operation between the Zadar County and the Croatian Armed Forces. We have carried out many valuable projects together, particularly those marking of the anniversaries from the Homeland War”, said the Zadar County Prefect Božidar Longin.
”In view of the current circumstances we are deeply grateful to the Croatian Armed Forces, for their noble gesture of making the return of the youngest pupils to school amidst social distancing measures ” said the Principal of the Elementary School ”Petar Zoranić“ in Nin Kata Knežević.
The Envoy of the Mayor of Nin Jozo Mustać expressed gratitude to the Croatian Armed Forces and the 93rd Wing was presented with certificates of appreciation.
