EX “Storm“ tests readiness of MRLS Battery

The Exercise “Storm“ engaged the members of the 5th HRVCON, the U.S. componment of the Battlegroup, and was followed by a static display of the MRLS Vulkan and of the personal equipment and weapons

The Exercise “Storm“ engaged the members of the 5th HRVCON, the U.S. componment of the Battlegroup, and was followed by a static display of the MRLS Vulkan and of the personal equipment and weapons.

The members of the 5th HRVCON to the Republic of Poland conducted a tactical exercise with the Storm combat shooting at the “Gaudynek“ Training Range. The Exercise concluded on 11 February 2020 and was attended by members of the 5th HRVCON and the U.S. component.

The objective of “Storm“ was to test the readiness of the MRLS Battery which is the main component of the 5th HRVCON, in the tactical actions and procedures in the list of tasks relevant to the mission, and in order to accomplish the main task of providing firing support to the maneuver forces.

Through co-ordinated actions and procedures of the MRLS Battery and the assigned elements of the U.S. component (a fire support company team and a radar squad), and with the co-ordination of the U.S. officers at the Battery command post all tasks were successfully completed, upgrading the interoperability level at the level of the Battlegroup.

 Enhancing the interoperability

Despite the adverse weather conditions during day and night activities, the members of the 5th HRVCON showcased a high level of motivation and commitment. .

Following the Exercise, the MRLS “Vulkan“, and personal equipment and weapons were on a static display, concluded with a presentation and tasting of the IBO of the 5th HRVCON.

The Croatian soldiers and the members of the armed forces of Romania and of the United Kingdom make part of the U.S. –led Battlegroup  which has been assigned to the 15th Mechanised Brigade of the Polish Armed Forces. The mission of the Battlegroup –POL is joint training and enhancing of interoperability among the Enhanced Forward Presence participants.
