The members of the 1st Motorised Battalion (“Vukovi”) of the Guards Motorised Brigade of the Croatian Army conducted a tactical live firing exercise titled „VUK 15/6“ in the Crvena zemlja Training Range near Knin on 15 September 2015. The Exercise was preceded by intensive preparations and the training for the EUBG 2016/II.
The Exercise was observed by the Commander of the Croatian Army, Lieutenant General Mate Ostović and the Commander of the Motorised Guards Brigade, Brigade General Boris Šerić.
The Exercise employed the MRAP M-ATV vehicles armed with the 12.7X99 mm BROWNING M2 guns of the inventory for the company declared for the EUBG, as well as the 120-mm mortars, the 82-mm mortars, the RPGs-22the POVRS 9K111 and the  POVRS 9K 115 (METIS) missile systems.
The Motorised Company for EUBG is augmented with a 120-mm platoon, an anti-armour platoon, a logistic squad and a medical team.
The Exercise “VUK 15” demonstrated the high-level trainedness of all components and their readiness to accoomplish the assigned goals. The Company demonstrated the readiness for the upcoming national certification during the “Udar“ Exercise (scheduled for mid-October).
The Commander of the Croatian Army, Lieutenant General Mate Ostović, expressing satisfaction over the demonstrated capabilities, stated. “The Exercise has been the opportunity to see for the first time the tactical employment of the newly acquired armoured M-ATVs in a live-fire exercise.
I am taking the opportunity, as the Croatian Army Commander, to commend the Battalion and the Company commanders, the officers, the NCOs and the enlisted soldiers – the infantry, the support and the mortars alike – for their respective contributions, the organisation and the conduct of the Exercise.
The Guards Motorised Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Boris Šerić said the Exercise crowned the company’s training for the EUBG, whose stand-period begins in the latter part of 2016. Prior to national certification the company is expected to conduct a tactical live firing exercise of joint branches.
