The members of the Croatian reinforced engineer unit (the reinforced company, logistically self-sustainable) declared and registered for deployment in UN missions and trained to execute horizontal construction and other engineer tasks) took their first joint training event at the Engineer Training Range „“Cerovac“ in the period 21 November – 2 December 2016..
Their main assigned tasks include peacekeeping and providing the support to the operation  and to the local population through executing infrastructure and similar works. The 1st HRVCON to UN is composed of the Engineer Platoon, the Infrastructure Platoon, the Engineer Suppprt Platoon, the RLS Platoon (manned by the members of the Support Command) and the Protective Platoon (manned by the members of the Battalion  “Vukovi“ Battalion of the Guards Mechanised Brigade. The declaration of forces for UN missions in  September 2015, was followed by an administrative phase, namely the Company establishment and personnel selection, and a phase of intensified basic military skills refreshment for the engineer personnel. June 2016 saw the commencement of the training as scheduled by the International Military Operations Training Centre (IMOTC), the unit responsible for the pre-deployment training of the Contingent, comprising eight modules which contain all UN operation-specific elements.  The UN training is either conducted in the IMOTC Barracks at Rakitje near Zagreb, or the IMOTC instructors visit the units.  “The unit members have undergone the training, the Company has been organised, and following the equipment adds-on it will be ready for any deployment anywhere by mid-2017“, said Captain Dražena, Commander of the General Engineer Support Company and the Commander of the 1. HRVCON. The joint training events will extend into 2017 as well as a large exercise to display all honed capabilities of the Company compoments.
